Siabuwa is a larger village and chieftancy along the rough Binga to Gokwe road in the Tonga area / Binga district of Matabeleland North in Zimbabwe. The cancha is not far West from Siabuwa Growth Point and Secondary School where the community is keen to establish a computer centre for better access to information and modern tools of communication. This is vital in the dire circumstances the country is going through i.e. for the spread of information how to counter the cholera epidemy which has engulfed the rural areas also.
An initiative of rotary clubs in Linz / Austria and Bulawayo / Zimbabwe is assisting the Siabuwa community with a solar power mini grid for the electricity required to run the centre and computers. Tonga.Online in Binga is providing for technical assistance.
Field description, annotations, ...
The Siabuwa cancha is a sandy pitch which is frequently used by herds of goats and cattle for grazing. It serves also as a playground for children who find few other opportunities for leisure since they have to work hard to assist their families in farming.
